Dear
Ms Beaufait:
We
will be discussing parking issues during the
City Council’s February 26th
study session. That session will start at
7:00PM, but there is at least one other
issue on the agenda that the Council will
discuss prior to taking up the parking
issue. Consequently, I would anticipate the
parking matter will start around 7:30 to
7:45PM.
Please
provide to me no later than Friday, February
15th any information you would
like me to include in the Council’s packet
of information for that meeting. That will
give me time to incorporate it into the
packet, along with the other information for
the meeting.
I
would appreciate electronic copies of all
information. However, if that is not
possible, we can scan information and
include it that way. The packet is
distributed electronically to the Council
and published on the City’s website (http://www.louisvilleco.gov/)
no later than the Friday before the meeting;
in this case, that will be on Friday,
February 22. I understand you think the
Council will need two weeks to review the
information you think is relevant. I would
suggest that the Mayor and Council are quite
adept at reviewing a significant volume of
information in a relatively short period of
time.
So
you understand the process, City Charter
prohibits the Council from taking action or
giving direction at a study session.
Consequently, there will only be discussion
at the February 26th meeting.
If Council wishes to make changes to
the City’s Code (including parking
regulations) that would happen at a later
date.
Please
let me know if I can be of further
assistance.
Sincerely,
Malcolm Fleming

Subject: City Council
Presentation
My name is Bev Beaufait. I
live at 388 W. Elm Street. The Mayor
asked me to contact you at the beginning
of February to set up a presentation to
City Council. Here is a quote from
his e-mail to me on January 3.
"I've arranged to have
parking issues in general discussed at a
city council study session in February or
March (our agendas are full before that).
I'll try and remember to let you know the
exact date but if you could check our
agendas online that would be a good backup
to my memory. Before that meeting I'd
recommend you get photos you want us to see
to the city staff so they can show them to
us or you could make photocopies. Please
contact Malcolm Fleming our city manager
about this in early February."
I
have Power Point Presentation photo hand
outs, which include 8 months worth of
pictures. Some handouts are 1 page;
some are 3 or more.
I have 6 e-mails from the Chief of
Police that I want presented to City
Council, too.
I will have a cover letter
explaining my parking concerns on public
streets in private neighborhoods with long
term abandonment/parking issues of
commercial and privately owned vehicles.
Because there will be so much
evidence presented to City Council, I will
need at least 3 weeks notice, as it will
take at least 2 weeks for City Council to
review my facts.
If you would be so kind as to let
me know the date for my presentation to
City Council, I would truly appreciate it,
so I can get this information to City
Council in a timely fashion.
If I give you a "Master Copy" of my
paperwork, can you make copies for each
member of City Council to hand it out to
them 2 weeks, before I appear in
person? Is this possible? Or
should I take all the copies myself and
distribute it to the Front
Desk area where the City Council
drawers are located?
If you could get back to me this
this information, when you have it, I
would greatly appreciate it.
