NECROLOGY
Compatriot
Dr. Philip W. Berstorf, age 9s, died 14 June 2007. The son of
Philip W. Berstorf and Mona E. Rucker, he was born in Cheyey, Kansas 13
November 1914. A graduate of Washington University School of
Medicine, St. Louis (1941), he served with the United States Army
Medical Crops during World War II. He returned to Wichita, became
a staff physician at the Wichita VA Hospital, and retired in 1974 as
Chief of Medical Service. Following his retirement from the VA
Hospital, he taught at the University of Kansas Medical School.
He was elected a member of the Minnesota Society of the War of 1812, 28
September 1986. His patriot ancestor was William Downs who served
in Captain William Douglass' Company, Ohio Volunteer Militia, August -
October 1812; May 1813.
